Learn how your funds are held

Your funds are held on the blockchain, and you access them by using your private key and seed phrase - think of them like a password and make sure you keep them safe. Minke provides the interface for you to access the funds, but you retain sole control over them, we don’t hold them for you. It’s helpful to think of Minke as a software provider, rather than a Bank.

Only you can access your funds, not Minke, or anyone else. We believe that self-custody in US-dollar denominated stablecoins is the best way to protect your money globally from inflation and other forces. It’s also how we can deliver Minke at a global scale.

You having sole custody over your own funds also ensures full transparency on where your money is being sent or invested. Any interest your money earns is yours to keep and Minke doesn’t earn any fees or margins. This is a vast improvement on the current financial system where you earn low interest on your savings while the bank lends it out at much higher interest rates. It’s also an improvement on centralized providers like Celsius who earn more interest on your money than they end up paying out to you.
